With Raquel and Matthew’s love for ocean views, they knew that Galveston Beach was the perfect place for their engagement session.
Raquel and Matthew met through a mutual friend’s mom. This friend decided to play matchmaker and set up the date. Although both Raquel and Matthew were hesitant about it at first, they certainly had no regrets after! They had a wonderful time at Dave and Busters where Raquel won all the games. From that date on they knew they loved each other’s company so much and were around each other all the time after that!
They enjoyed watching television together and movie nights. They loved curling up with each other on the couch or on their adjustable bed with their favorite snacks and binge watching. One of their favorite shows is Power on Starz. Aside from spending quality time, they also enjoyed good conversations where they would talk about their future children, business plans, investing, and other important aspects of life.
Raquel excitedly said, “There’s something about planning your future with the person you love most!”
They have two fur-children (dogs) who they love as their own children and spend a lot of time playing with them, enjoying their company. They also enjoy doing projects together, Matthew is creative and hands-on. Raquel mentioned, “We just recently redid an old desk that I plan to use a vanity. Matthew is so fun to be around so we could literally be doing nothing and we would enjoy ourselves“.
Knowing She Was “The One”
Psalms 37;4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Matthew said, “I knew Raquel was the one because I prayed and asked God to send me a loving, beautiful, caring, God filled woman. I truly believe I have just that in Raquel. There was no certain moment. I just knew.”
Knowing He Was “The One”
Raquel said “I knew Matt was the one because he never made me feel like I had to dim my light for him. He has always been supportive and encouraging in everything that I’ve wanted to do. He is my biggest cheerleader. I’ve never had anybody have my back the way Matt does. I first realized this when I was being recognized for an award at work he came with me to the conference. He took so many pictures of me that night. He was so proud and made me feel so honored/loved. I knew then that I needed to keep him on my team.”
The Engagement
Raquel reclaims the moment that Matthew proposed,
“Matthew proposed while on a helicopter tour ride over La Jolla Beach in San Diego! The view was breathtaking I so was mesmerized by the beach, the cliffs, and the sea lions below that I almost didn’t realize when the pilot stopped talking. I heard Matthew’s voice on my headset and I was so shocked that I turned around really fast to tell him that he wasn’t supposed to be talking lol. When I turned around he had the ring out and asked me to be his wife. I was so overwhelmed with joy that I cried like a baby. I knew this moment was coming soon because Matt started talking about it more and more but that didn’t make it any less special. The day we got engaged was one of the happiest days of my life.”
The Ring
When asked about the ring, Raquel excitedly shared that she really wanted a pear-shaped diamond, and she said, “Matthew listened and got me exactly what I wanted!… I love love love my ring!”
Wedding Day
Raquel and Matthew happily married in December 2018 in Houston, Texas. At the time of this engagement shoot, they were so excited and looking forward to their vintage romance-themed wedding.
