Shooting a wedding at Olde Dobbin Station in Houston, TX was such a great experience for me in 2019! This location was the perfect backdrop for Raquel and Darnell’s wedding aesthetic. Between the use of Olde Dobbin Station’s old structures, exposed brick, and the couple’s swanky velvet hunter green accents, their special day was a dream. Everything was so perfectly customized to match their personalities and style!

What I loved most about Olde Dobbin Station was the ivy lined walls on the outside of the buildings and the rustic feel of the ceremony building. I also really loved the bridal suite, too, as it added a perfect quaint touch to the overall aesthetic to Raquel & Matt’s wedding day!

That greenery wall at Olde Dobbin Station was so perfect for their first look and portraits because it was pouring rain on their wedding day but thanks to a small awning right outside of the bridal suite building, we were able to be shielded by the rain and still create some beautiful images!

Here’s a little more insight from the bride, Raquel.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

My favorite part, other than marrying my best friend, was being showered with so much love from our family and friends. We felt so special and were on cloud 9 for a while after the wedding because we kept getting love from every where. They truly made us feel important and gave us the confidence that every newly couple needs when it comes to a support system. 

What advice would you give to new couples entering the wedding planning process?

Hire a planner! You do not want to have to worry about things on your wedding day. You also do not want to count on your family/friends to do this. Professionals know how to handle situations and think on their toes. They are worth the money even if it’s just for the actual wedding day. Make sure this person is organized, friendly, and knows your wants. Also, the day goes so fast so don’t stress, enjoy every moment and just have fun! 

What’s your favorite part about being married?

My favorite part of being married is the partnership that comes with it. I know I will always have a friend, somebody to care for me when I’m sick. Somebody to vent to…to correct me when I’m wrong. Somebody to pick up the slack when I’m not bringing in money from my commission based job, and somebody to build a legacy with, for example. To know that my husband was made with me in mind gives me chills. He is everything I’ve ever wanted and didn’t know I needed. And as cliche, as it sounds my life is truly complete with him by my side.
